GULLIFORD TUTORS

Authors Husband and Wife Jane and Mark Gulliford smiling at the camera with friendly smiles

Gulliford Tutors is the husband-and-wife team of Jane and Mark Moffatt—experienced educators with over 55 years of combined teaching expertise. For the past 30 years, they’ve successfully helped children gain entrance into Devon’s top grammar schools through effective, personalised tutoring.

When Jane couldn’t find the right kind of 11+ practice materials to recommend to her students, she began writing her own. More than a decade later, her workbooks have become a trusted resource for parents and educators alike.

Their 11+ workbook series is designed specifically for FSCE-style tests, crafted to build essential skills through targeted, repeated practice. Every word in their books is carefully chosen to boost vocabulary and improve outcomes. The materials are field-tested in real mock exams and continually updated to reflect the latest 11+ trends.

These workbooks are intentionally designed for busy families: they’re compact enough to take on holidays or car trips, and the short-format tests help children build confidence without feeling overwhelmed. At the start of each book, Jane shares tried-and-true strategies developed over three decades—giving students smart, effective ways to approach even the trickiest questions.

Popular titles in the series include:

Through every page, Jane and Mark’s ethos is clear: 11+ preparation should be fun, motivating, and confidence-building. After all, these are 10-year-olds—preparation should challenge and support them without ever becoming overwhelming. At Gulliford Tutors, the journey toward success is just as important as the outcome.
