CLOZE Practice Book: For CEM style 11+ Test Preparation  

There are many different ways of testing missing letters within the FSCE and GL style papers : missing letters within sentences; within word connections or analogies ; and the traditional CLOZE texts. The CLOZE texts are whole fiction or non-fiction texts where certain words have letters missing. The skill is to read beyond the word needed, use inference to work out the word and then be able to spell it correctly.

• Fill in the missing three letters in a word( Partial words )– sentences have a word in them where a group of three letters have been omitted. However, the three letters must also make up a complete three letter word.You have to find this three letter word.

•Fill in the missing letters – letters in various words in a text passage have been omitted. Complete the word so that the passage makes sense.

• Word banks – some words have been omitted from a text passage and put in a word bank. Choose the correct word from the word bank to fill in the blanks so that the passage makes sense.
